Indoor Air Quality and Building Envelope Improvements

Indoor Air Quality

Poorly-maintained air filters not only decreases the efficiency of your HVAC system, but can also cause indoor air quality issues.

Providing a healthy indoor environment means providing occupants with fresh air at a comfortable temperature year round.  High humidity levels inside a building can indicate that insufficient ventilation air is being supplied; high humidity can cause condensation damage and mold growth which is commonly known as "Sick Building Syndrome" and can cause higher absenteeism, costing significant losses in productivity and potentially to law suits.  Although increased ventilation air can lead to greater energy costs, there are methods available to capture energy from the exhausted "stale" air and pre-condition the fresh air stream minimizing the expense of additional heating or cooling.  TCorp has extensive experience in evaluating working environments and designing appropriate mechanical systems that will provide building occupants with a healthy and productive working environment while minimizing the energy impact.

Building Envelope

Along with the mechanical conditioning systems in place, the quality of building envelope design will greatly affect protection from the outdoor climate, indoor air quality, and energy efficiency. TCorp employs skilled technicians that effectively evaluate the "leakiness" of a building through blower door tests.

Here, the air leaking from the outside is visible without the use of a blower door test, showing poor building envelope design.

A blower door is a tool that depressurizes a building, exaggerating air leaks, making them easier to measure and locate.
